Free Crochet Pattern – Silly Wig Hat
View blog post for supplies
While looking around on Ravelry for some more crochet patterns to add to my queue (just what I need, right), I came across this wig hat crochet pattern and it made me laugh out loud. Shot that pattern straight up to the top of my queue! I’m a sucker for whimsical and quick-to-complete crochet patterns. Sarah from PoshPooch Designs created this adorable crochet pattern and has shared it with the world. Thank you Sarah!
As if this pattern weren’t amazing in and of itself, Claire of BobWilson123 has filmed a video tutorial to go along with it! I love crocheting along with video tutorials, it almost feels like you are crocheting with a friend. Wig Hat Crochet Pattern Video Tutorial
What’s wonderful about crochet is that there are no rules…if you want to tweak a pattern to fit your liking by golly, do it! There are only two small tweaks I made to this pattern. The pattern calls for cinching the hat closed by weaving a tail through the top round of slip stitches, but I wasn’t quite digging the way it looked. Instead I single crochet decreased around the top hole for 3 rounds. Also, I wanted a bow with a bit more structure to it, so I looked around and found this awesome “Boutique Bow” free crochet pattern from Stitch11. She said she wanted to design a bow that mimicked Minnie Mouse’s bow. I’d say she succeeded, it is SO cute!
