Amigurumi Ball - Free Crochet Pattern

These were so much fun to crochet! They’re easy, and something you can crochet in an evening for instant gratification. When worked up with variegated yarn they look really cool! If you have been wanting to dip your toes into amigurumi (3-d crochet), this is a perfect project to start with. You can practice your increases and decreases to give you confidence for that larger project.

There’s so many possibilities for this pattern! You could crochet this with thread and stuff it with beans to make a hackey-sack, you could use the ball as a head or body for an amigurumi character, or you could just do what I did…make a bunch and stuff them with fiberfill and throw them at your family. Fun!

Wouldn’t they look great as tennis, baseballs or basketballs? All you’d need is some extra thread for the details and a steady hand. I’d love to see pictures if any of you crafty folk make one.
You can find the pattern (and add it to your Ravelry queue) here: An Ideal Sphere – Free Crochet Pattern.
Many thanks to Emily for sharing! Don’t forget to add pictures, designers love to see your finished items! Happy hooking!
