Holidays are always fun for us crafty folk. There is no shortage of ways to get in the spirit, as evident by the seemingly endless hours one could spend on pinterest, deciding what special projects will fill our creative cup.

Having recently learned to knit, I’ve been practicing on dish cloths. Not the most glamorous of projects, admittedly, but certainly functional, and perfect practice for this newbie knitter. Looking around on Ravelry for some easy Halloween dish cloths, this “Jack O’ Lantern Cloth”, by “Mac’s Crafty Creations” caught my eye. Knits and purls, that’s easy enough, right!

I used a worsted weight cotton (my favorite is Premier Home Cotton – it stays soft after washing), and size 4 needles. The pattern calls for 6, but I didn’t have a 6, and knowing I wanted to keep the stitches tight I thought it best to go down in needle size instead of up. The only alteration I made to the pattern was to add 2 stitches to the cast on, and then slipped the first stitch of every row knit wise, and purled the last stitch – a selvage I suppose. With the size 4 needles, the cloth ended up measuring 7-1/2″ by 7″.

Many thanks to “Mac’s Crafty Creations” for sharing this fun pattern. Happy knitting!
