October 2018 Crochet World Magazine Review and Giveaway
The October 2018 issue of Crochet World Magazine is chock full of seasonal patterns, as well as gifts to make and projects for busting through your stash of scrap yarn. Take a peek at just some of the goodness in this issue!
Being someone who manages to acquire quite a vast amount of scraps throughout the year, I was psyched to see this “scrap-buster” project. Normally, I’m not too keen to make blankets since they take so long to make, but with the “Diamond Overlay Scrapghan” pattern from designer Margret Willson I just couldn’t help myself. Currently I am working on not one but TWO blankets using this pattern. One is the scrapghan style akin to the pattern photo. One of my favorite things about this pattern is you are never working with more than one color at a time, but the finished result is stunning!
Another blanket I’m making from this pattern is a Christmas present for my younger brother. Pretty sure he’s not reading a crochet blog, so I’m safe. Lol. I’m sticking with black for the main color, and alternating a row of blue and variegated blue for the contrast.
With two blankets already in the works, I decided to keep it simple for the next pattern. The “Waves of Color Cowl” by Laura Gebhardt was the perfect fit for an easy project I could work on while watching tv. Use a self striping yarn to create a colorful cowl that looks much harder to make than it really is! I used KnitPicks Chroma Worsted in colorway Pegasus, and it was the exact amount of yarn I needed to make the cowl! Isn’t it so pretty?!
Whether you want to create some seasonal decor for your home, or you’d like to start making gifts for the holidays, the October 2018 issue of Crochet World Magazine has some great patterns to keep you crocheting away! It’s available on newsstands at your local craft stores, or you can order a digital copy from Annie’s and start crocheting right now!
