Naturally, after seeing the adult sized tie-back “Hippie Headband”, my daughter wanted one. Actually she asked for three…one in blue, one in red, and one in pink. Good thing they’re quick to make.

This headband has a pretty generous size range, and should fit children ages 4-12. For children 12 and up, the adult headband should fit just fine. You can find the adult size headband here: Hippie Headband – Free Crochet Pattern

The pattern calls for worsted weight cotton yarn, just to keep things cool and breathable on a hot summer day. If you are looking to make a cold-weather version of this headband, go ahead and use an acrylic or wool-blend yarn. Whatever worsted cotton you have on hand should be fine, however I do want to mention that I used Premier Home Cotton, which (although they are both worsted), I find to be just a tiny bit smaller in weight than Lily Sugar and Cream. Personally, I would recommend the Premier for this particular project, since it has a slight blend of acrylic in it, and comes out of the wash softer than when it went in.
