Since I recently became an auntie (eeek!), I definitely wanted to crochet the adorable “Sleepy Baby Doll”. If you have never done amigurumi before and want to give it a go, this is a great project to start with. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, so you’ll be able to build up your amigurumi confidence while making a treasured gift! I did not have any of the recommended size 3 (light) yarn on hand, so I opted to make this in worsted weight yarn, and it worked up just lovely. I was concerned about stuffing showing through, so I did go down to a size 3.5mm crochet hook for the entire pattern, and that worked out great. Other than that, the only other thing I didn’t do was add a pom pom to the hat. If it were for an older child, 4 or 5, it probably wouldn’t be a problem. However, pom poms can be a little fussy, even with the best attaching, and I can’t have the pom pom or even little strands coming out and into a babies mouth. My next project from this issue is definitely going to be the lacy kimono sweater – Just need to find the perfect yarn and a little “me” time!
