Trying out new stitch patterns on dishcloths just makes sense. Essentially, they are a big swatch you can put to use cleaning the kitchen. Seed stitch has a nice little bit of nubby texture perfect for washing dishes, the counter, or your car (though you’ll probably want to use the XL version, available here: Seed Stitch XL Dishcloth – Free Knitting Pattern




Whether you are looking to try seed stitch for the first time, or you are an advanced knitter who wants to keep their hands busy, this is a great pattern for holiday gift making.

I used Premier Home Cotton for this project, but any worsted weight cotton yarn you have on hand will work.

Supplies and such:

Worsted Weight Yarn
Approx. 70 yards worsted weight cotton yarn
Size 7 needles

Gauge: 10 st and 15 rows in 2″ seed stitch

Cast on 40
1. Sl first st KW, K39

2-5. Rep 1

6. Sl first st KW, K2
(K1, P1) until 3 st remain
K3

7. Sl first st KW, K2
(P1, K1) until 3 st remain
K3

8-65. Rep 7 and 8

66 – 70. Rep 1

Bind off
