Wavy Daze Hat – Free Crochet Pattern

Wavy Daze Hat - Free Crochet Pattern with Messy Bun/Ponytail Hat Option

As the temperatures drop here in New England, and elsewhere, necessity, the mother of invention, invites us crafty folk to take advantage of our skills to create pretty things to keep us and our families warm. I switch from making bags and light shawls to hats, scarves, and lets not forget fingerless gloves! Hats are always fun to make, since they work up kind of quick, and take less than a single skein of yarn. Included in the pattern is instructions for making the ever popular messy bun/ponytail hat beanie. Think Christmas/holiday gifts!

If you are reading this you have probably crocheted a hat before. Perhaps you have crocheted many beanies…and you are looking for something a little bit different than your average slouchy. The “Wavy Daze Hat” has a stitch pattern that I’ve designed with before and I just love it! Made with worsted weight yarn, it’s textured and thick without being too bulky. I used an acrylic yarn for this project, so if you are using animal fiber do a gauge swatch to see what your fabric swatches to after blocking. If you like to live life dangerously and never gauge, just do the size medium, you should be fine. Lol.
