I’ve lost count of how many stuffed animals my daughter has. My husband has requested several times that his family stop giving her stuffies, but inevitably each time she comes home from visiting Grandma, she has 1 or 2 new stuffed animals. I can’t blame them. They just want to see her happy, and I’ve given in to stuffed animal cuteness a few times myself. A.C. Moore always has those webkinz on sale and I can’t help but throw one in the cart. We do filter through and choose toys to donate to local charities, but as fast as they get donated, more stuffed animals come in to replace them.

So, to tame the beast(s), I’ve come up with the SACU bag. SACU – Stuffed Animal Containment Unit. Nothing fancy, but it does the trick! It’s made of treble crochets, so it works up fairly quickly. The bag calls for two balls of Lily’s Sugar n Cream Cotton yarn (4oz.), including the drawstring. Of course you could use a non-cotton yarn, but I just like the way the cotton feels, and it’s so easy to wash.

If you do not have a young child with a mass quantity of stuffed animals, this bag can still be useful for you. It would make a great “sports bag” for the garage, as it’s has a bit of stretch and could easily fit 3 or 4 basketballs and a football. I could also see this being used as a laundry bag. Good for the college bound student perhaps?

I hope you find it useful, and, as always, I’d love to see your finished works! You can add the pattern to your Ravelry queue here: Free Crochet Bag Pattern – Stuffed Animal Containment Unit

Yes I fit ALL those stuffed animals in the bag!
