Free Crochet Pattern Review – Super Mario Mushroom

When I was 11 or 12, my brother and I received the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) for Christmas. It came with a game cartridge, a 2-in-1. Super Mario Bro and Duck Hunt. My brother and I used to play that game for hours. Eventually we got other games, upgraded our Nintendo to a Super Nintendo…then Nintendo 64. My younger sister was too young for the classic NES, but she joined in on the fun for the other systems.

The Super Mario Mushroom is widely recognized, almost as iconic as the big man himself. I made three of these awesome amigurumi mushrooms for the holidays…one for my sister, one for my brother, and one for his fiancee – all big gamers. Since they’ve been gifted I can share my pattern review with you now!

Free Crochet Pattern - Super Mario Mushroom

This awesome pattern was designed by Linda Potts of WolfDreamer. You can find the pattern in its entirety here: Free Crochet Pattern – Super Mario Amigurumi Mushroom. Be sure to have a look around her website, especially if you like amigurumi. She has lots of adorable patterns!

I found the pattern really easy to follow, and didn’t really make any alterations. The only thing I did differently than what the pattern suggests was wait to stuff the mushroom until I had already added the circles on the outside. I’d rate this patterns “EASY”, and if you’ve never done amigurumi before, this pattern would make a great way to dip your toes in!

Have you made one of these? Don’t forget to share your pictures on Ravelry, designers love to see pics!! You can add this project to your Ravelry queue here: Free Crochet Pattern – Super Mario Mushroom
